Your parents or grandparents would make you give this big ole cheesy smile and the next thing you know, you’re being blinded by the flash.  We’ve come a long way from Polaroid’s, to film, to digital to now viral videos. People learn and grasp things differently so when it comes to your marketing, you have to make sure that your content can be found in all forms so that you’re reaching a wider audience.

Here are 3 reasons why video marketing online is important and the impact it can have on your business:

  1. It’s another marketing strategy – it’s FREE! If your business doesn’t have a big marketing budget, then you should be utilizing video content to get your message out there. Video for marketing enables your audience to put a face with the name. It gives your audience a chance to connect with you on a personal level. It makes you relatable and reassures them that you’re human and can be touched by the things that affects those most.  
  2. It allows you to repurpose your content – once you create any kind of video advertising, it’s out there for eternity (or until you hide or delete it). Your videos can be used in your blog post, sales ads, landing/lead pages, eBooks, etc.  There’s tons of ways that you can repurpose your content all with the short link YouTube gives you once your video is uploaded to your channel.
  3. Your content resides on the 2nd largest social search engine platform – Think about the one place you go to when you’re looking for instructions on how to do something step-by-step. 9 times out of 10, you probably search for a video on YouTube to see if you can find what you’re looking for. Now, imagine if that was your potential client/customer looking for a solution to their problem that your business can solve for them.  Ahh, now you see the bigger picture.

 

If you are camera shy, then now is the time to break free and get over your fear. You have an audience of prospects waiting on your content and they cannot, and will not, find your video content marketing until you get in front of your camera and say “Lights, Camera, Action”.  You can do this. The best way to remove the stigma of freezing in front of the camera is imagining that you’re talking to your best friend/family member.  That should help you block out the fact that the camera is rolling.

Your video marketing strategy should include the following:

  1. Research – Do your research. Find out their FAQs, pain points and/or what they need/want. Use the Google Keyword Planner tool, niche-specific forums or FaceBook groups to find out this information.
  2. Jot it down – Make a list of what commonality questions you see.
  3. Create your content – Create content, i.e. a video or blog post (preferably video), that addresses their FAQs or pain points.
  4. Promote your content – Post it on YouTube, your blog, on Facebook, run ads, etc. Promote your content everywhere that you can think of where they will find it. 
  5. Repeat – Keep repeating this process in an effort to establish yourself as an authority figure/expert. Doing so will bring in leads and customers as a result of your content.

Video marketing is powerful and should not be overlooked or left out of your marketing campaign.  If you’re shy, scared or timid, then get over it & just start talking. If it helps at all, then just imagine yourself talking to a close friend or family member and they’re sitting on the other side of the camera.  Once you get the first video under your belt, you’ll be a pro at it and no one will be able to stop you or tell you otherwise. Oh, you don’t need to buy fancy recording equipment; you’re cell phone will do the trick. Keep it under short & sweet, but to the point.
